A review of 2003 CSA data furnished by the FDIC to the Chicago Region reveals some interesting findings. First, on a national level, if your over 40 your odds of being awarded a CSA are just a little better than 30 percent versus 40 percent if you are under 40. Second, just 24 and 27 percent Hispanics and African Americans nationwide received CSAs, respectively. Third, if you happen to be a white male over 40 (nationwide), don't bet on getting a CSA, only 29 percent of white males over 40 received CSAs versus nearly one in two white males under 40 that received the awards. Finally, at least from the data received from the Chicago Region, it pays to work in the RO: Nearly 44 percent of eligible Chicago RO personnel received CSAs versus 32 percent of eligible field office employees.
